PARK
Cardstock, Toothpicks, Cardboard, & Superglue
30 x 15 x 8 cm
"Park is an amateur architectural model of a public park, housing booths for food and service, as well as public restrooms and centers for information."
As I got more involved with my interest in architecture, I learned more about general practices architecture students do, one of which was making models. Eager to ready myself for potential curriculums, I used Park to practice my model making skills.
Having already taken a sculpture class, I was versed in the process of forming three-dimensional forms, especially with basic materials like cardboard and paper. Dealing with the toothpicks, however, proved difficult, as they were delicate and required both a steady hand to balance the trees and enough patience to keep the trees in their place long enough for the glue to dry.
