DRIPPING
Procreate & Digital Print
41 x 51 cm
"Dripping divides into four distinct parts, each showing varying levels of anxiety, bad habits, and personal exploration, all culminating to represent the subject's internal conflicts. ."
Dripping was a concept I had in the works for a while. I came out as gay to my family when I was in eighth grade and have wanted to create an artwork about my struggle of coming to terms with myself ever since.
I wanted the depiction of my skin stretching to be cartoonish, almost surreal, to convey a sense of disassociation with my nail biting habit and how it's hard to control. Making this artwork digitally seemed like the best way to accomplish that cartoony feel, but much of the style I used took inspiration from artworks by Roy Lichtenstein. I even took used CMYK instead of the default RGB color setting to emulate Lichtenstein's technique as much as possible.
